Pingyao celebrates 9th Chinese Cultural Heritage Day

As part of celebrations for the ninth Chinese Cultural Heritage Day, cultural heritage inheritors in Pingyao attend a seminar on the protection of intangible cultural heritage.

It was organized by the Department of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, Press and Publication of Pingyao county.

A rule to regulate heritage inheritors and related organizations protecting intangible cultural heritage was announced.

There are 72 intangible cultural heritage projects at various levels and 45 inheritors of city-level intangible cultural heritage in Pingyao.

Participants also put forward proposals with comments and suggestions on inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritage.

In order to promote the protection of the nation’s rich cultural resources, the State Council of China declared in 2005 that the second Saturday of June would be celebrated as Cultural Heritage Day each year. This year’s theme was "Making cultural heritage come alive".
