Pingyao ancient dwelling expo garden sets up folk custom lectures

A group of elementary school students visited the ancient dwelling expo garden in Pingyao county, Shanxi province, on March 8, and attended lectures there about folk customs.

The Pingyao ancient dwelling expo garden, a famous scenic spot in Pingyao, is the former site of the national renowned exchange shop, "Wei Fenghou", dating back to the Qing dynasty (1644-1911), and also contains a typical Jin merchant courtyard with rich brick-carving and wood-carving artwork featured in its architecture, showing clear local characteristics.

The folk lecture was started this lunar January, and targets all primary and middle school students in the county. During holidays and festivals, professional interpreters are invited to give volunteer presentations, receiving critical acclaim from the students and their parents. Up till now, the garden has received more than six groups of students, numbering more than 100 students in total.
