Pingyao gets 'Top 10 Charming Town' title

When the results of the Overseas Chinese Media search for 2013 were announced in the city of Shenzhen，Pingyao,in Shanxi province, joined the "Top 10 Charming Towns"list, the Pingyao county government announced, on Jan 9.

The annual rewarding activity is sponsored by the Overseas Chinese Media Cooperation Organization and Hong Kong Wenhui Newspaper and comes with four prizes -- Outstanding Chinese, Outstanding Chinese Enterprise, Top 10 Charming Cities, and Top 10 Charming Towns.

The judges who are senior management personnel at overseas Chinese media in several dozen countries and regions. For the most charming cities, the judges consider their cultural influence, tourism competitiveness, reputation, and charm. Those that made the list were -- Pingyao Old City, Shanxi province; Dunhuang, Gansu province; Pu’er, Yunnan province; Wulingyuan, Hunan province; Shuangcheng, Heilongjiang province; Dujiangyan, Sichuan province; Yongjia, Zhejiang province; Changping, Beijing district; Kunshan, Jiangsu province; and Kaiping, Guangdong province.
