Policies give Pingyao's animal husbandry a boost

The county of Pingyao, Shanxi province has been trying to increase funding for its animal husbandry, since 2009, and has strengthened the effort this year by putting more than 3 million yuan into a new standard breeding area that comprises 12 villages and towns.

Pingyao is now working on 24 large standard breeding areas and has plans to spend around 50 million yuan developing them, with 18 already completed at a cost of 39 million yuan investment.

By the end of October, it had produced 59,000 ton of meat, 61,000 tons of eggs, and 29,000 tons of dairy products over the Jan-Oct period with the industry showing healthy growth.
