Pingyao county becomes a 'Tai Chi Softball' center

Pingyao county, in Shanxi province, has joined the city of Jinzhong, Shanxi province, in claiming the honor of "National hometown of Tai Chi Softball" list, with the China Senior Sports Association designating 20 cites across the country.

Tai Chi Softball, a special sport that combines Tai Chi, the Chinese meditative exercise, with tennis and badminton, was developed in Pingyao county, in 2005. With the county government and Senior Sports Association support, it now has around 5,000 participants, and is gradually seeing more people of all kinds joining in.
