Pingyao pushing tourism standardization

The government of Pingyao county, Shanxi province is standardizing more practices to prepare for an inspection by the National Tourism Administration (CNTA) at the end of this year, which requires greater tourism standardization to improve management and services in the industry.

Pingyao was chosen as one of 10 pilot counties by the CNTA at the end of 2012 for the tourism standardization, so the government has used activities to promote it and came up with a general plan, set up a special column on its website, and picked 48 entities to lead the campaign.

Experts and officials from a previous group of 10 pilot counties were also asked to visit Pingyao and give professional advice based on experience.

Meanwhile, Pingyao is also taking its unique local culture into consideration and enhancing the campaign with special standards.

This standardization is expected to substantially improve Pingyao’s tourist services and make it a more international destination.
