Pingyao keeps strong momentum in economic restructuring

The local government has maintained strong momentum in restructuring the economy since the beginning of this year in Pingyao county, North China’s Shanxi province.

Pingyao stuck to its goal of developing into a model tourism city featuring Shanxi merchant culture. It also paid more attention to green and cultural development.

Believing that projects are key engines driving forward economic development and comprehensive reform, the county government plans to carry out 69 major projects within this year.

While attaching great importance to 10 industrial projects, 10 foundation projects and 10 projects for people’s livelihood, Pingyao has made great efforts to develop modern agriculture and new industries, making the county even more livable.

Shanxi Yuhao, a hi-tech company specializing in new optical materials and derivative products, realized mass production in April and is now the largest base to produce laser guide plates in China.

Shanxi Pingyao Coal Chemical Group is devoted to a project to produce 120,000 tons of paper out of stone.

Additional projects include the live-action show Another Glance at Pingyao, CAS-Hon Gai Bio-Industry Park, the project to expand and improve the technology of coal mines, and projects dedicated to cultural heritage protection.
