Shanxi tourism launches safety overhaul
Updated:2013-07-17 16:41( chinadaily.com.cn)
The provincial tourism bureau has urged tourism administration departments at all levels to comprehensively troubleshoot and deal with hidden safety concerns during the rainy season so as to ensure the safety of traveling tourists during heavy rains.
When arranging travel groups, travel agencies should take into consideration the weather conditions and appropriately plan the travel routes. They should rent licensed coaches and ride through dangerous sections of road and bad weather with extra caution.
When tourists are delayed by or trapped in bad weather, tour guides should learn to calm them down and provide them with comfortable lodging and food besides reporting the incident to relevant regulation departments. Travel agencies should also initiate emergency response mechanisms to ensure the safety of tourists and property.
Tour guides were also asked to remind tourists of basic safety tips during rainy days, such as don’t stay under trees or electric wire, notice warning boards at scenic sites and stay away from dangerous areas.
Top scenic spots should quickly spread out information about bad weather and clear out transportation arteries in a timely manner. Warning signboards should also be put up at walkways to remind tourists of slippery danger.
Special equipment should be better managed, and tours should also be cancelled according to relevant regulations in bad weather.
Relevant department should increase patrols at road areas prone to landslides and accidents and put up necessary warning signs.
