Pingyao expects heavy rains next week

The local government urged relevant organizations and the general public to prepare for heavy rains in the upcoming week in Pingyao county, North China’s Shanxi province.

Heavy rains were forecast on Tuesday and Wednesday for the whole county with partial areas expecting storms. Moderate to heavy rains were forecast for Friday and Saturday for the whole county.

Relevant entities and people should prepare for the heavy rain and the attendant secondary disasters by checking urban sewage lines and rural irrigation systems to prevent water logging, as well as keeping a close eye on dangerous buildings to guard against possible landslides, said the meteorological department.

Students on summer break were also advised not to play in reservoirs, fish ponds or valleys.
