Pingyao holds “Pingyao dream” speech contest

The government of Pingyao county, Shanxi province organized a public speech contest with the theme “Pingyao dream”, on June 19, to try to generate some positive energy among the local people, with 15 contestants responding and showing their passion for their hometown.

They spoke about helping build a better hometown and had elaborate stories on just how to realize the “Chinese dream” with a Pingyao version, through individual efforts.

Li Fei, an actress on a well-known local action show, Another Glance at Pingyao, took top prize with an emotional speech, where she expressed the hope that more people will get to know the tourist delights of Pingyao and fall in love with it through her show.

The “Pingyao dream” of the contest, according to Wei Mingxi, head of the local Party committee, means establishing a more prosperous, beautiful county with good governance, a developed economy, pleasant ecology and environment, and better livelihoods -- in short, a place where people lead happy lives.
