Local firefighting officers have stepped up their patrols around the county to eliminate fire hazards in response to the rise in the number of tourists in Pingyao, North China’s Shanxi province.
More than 1,500 people have been involved in the patrols, and 14 fire alarms have been dealt with in the past two months, successfully eradicating more than 1,000 fire hazards and ensuring the safety of about 1 million tourists.
With all equipment and resources available, local firefighting officers have maintained around-the-clock surveillance of the county and conducted motorbike patrols in key spots like popular tourist sites and guesthouses.
Tourists are advised to raise their awareness of fire prevention and behave themselves wherever non-smoking signs are located.
