Pingyao officials inspect sites for International Photography Festival

Local government officials inspected sites for the annual Pingyao International Photography Festival on Tuesday in Pingyao county, North China’s Shanxi province.

Leading a team of officials, Wei Mingxi, Party chief of the county, and Cao Zhisheng, the county head, visited the diesel engine factory, the textile mill and other places. The sites are undergoing a series of transformations to get ready to host the upcoming photography exhibitions, which usually fall in September.

This year, extra efforts have been put into tidying up the surrounding environment of the future sites, especially the diesel engine factory, which will showcase the best of the photographic works.

With the support of the national cultural ministry and the information office of the State Council, the Pingyao International Photography Festival has been an international hit since it was first held in 2001. Various photographic activities during the week-long festival have been made known to the world through the unique architectural styles of the old city of Pingyao and the splendid folk customs of Pingyao locals over the years.
