About 20 kilometers south of the Ancient City of Pingyao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in North China's Shanxi province, is a valley full of fruit and with flowing and clear springs, lush woods and grass.
There are many types of wild fruit in the valley, including one named binguo in Chinese. Since it was first planted during the reign of Emperor Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the fruit found in this valley is famous home and abroad for its bright color, full fragrance and sweet and sour taste. It was once popular in Eastern Europe and Russia.
Pingyao county is rich in binguo fruit, with an annual output of 1 million kilograms and 200,000 kg of dried fruit after processing. The dried binguo produced by traditional process has a unique taste and good nutrition, and helps the digestion and relieve fatigue.
