Yungang Grottoes ranks first temporarily among the top ten Shanxi scenic areas

The Tourism Administration of Datong City announced on May 7 that the event, “Impression: A Global Vote for Top Ten Scenic Areas in Shanxi” had started. The Yungang Grottoes, Northern Heng Shan, Datong City Walls, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple and Jinhuagong Coal Mine ranking among the first sixth most popular scenic areas so far.

Anyone who wants to share an opinion may vote on the specially established website “A Land of Splendors” (http://jsjm.sxta.com.cn/portal/).

The global vote aims to single out exemplars of the cultural scenic areas among 60 core tourist attractions in Shanxi. Statistics have shown that the Yungang Grottoes in Datong topped the list with 8,690 votes, followed by Mount Wutai and the Ancient City of Pingyao.

Tourism enthusiasts may vote on the Internet for their ten favorite scenic areas in Shanxi, if they have had any experience or impressions related to the scenic areas. The ten most-voted scenic areas will be awarded the “2012 Impression: Top Ten Scenic Areas in Shanxi”. The voting will be valid until October 31, 2012.
