Agricultural robots enhance dryland farming in Shanxi

Shanxi province has enhanced agricultural machinery and developed agricultural robots to address the challenges of dryland farming in recent years to advance rural vitalization and ensure food security.

With funding from the Shanxi Agricultural Machinery Development Center, the intelligent mulching and seeding robot developed by Shanxi Aige Robotics Technology Co has recently passed project acceptance by the Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Department after trials and improvements. This achievement represents a major step forward in supporting the high-quality development of dryland agriculture in Shanxi.

The robot, equipped with AI algorithms and an automatic control system, features an electric four-wheel drive and front-drive track design, allowing it to navigate complex terrains in hilly and mountainous areas. It also features a single-antenna Beidou navigation system, dynamic speed control, and multi-task coordination technology, enabling it to complete fertilization, mulching, drip tape laying, seeding, and soil covering in one go.

Compared with traditional mulching and seeding machinery, this robot reduces labor, eases the workload on operators and manual assistants, and significantly boosts operational efficiency, effectively addressing technical bottlenecks in crop planting in arid regions.

Looking ahead, agricultural robots are expected to play a larger role in stabilizing and increasing production, reducing labor costs, and attracting young people back to rural areas. This will promote high-quality agricultural development and accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
