Shanxi welcomes 2026 Spring Festival travel rush
Updated: 2026-02-05
The 2026 Spring Festival travel rush kicked off in Shanxi province on Feb 2. At the entrance of Taiyuan Railway Station, passengers queued in an orderly manner with their luggage, while others collected tickets from self-service machines, filling the air with a warm sense of homecoming.
"This year, we've refined our services for the elderly," explained staff member He Jie. The assistance room now offers a "one-on-one" accompaniment service throughout the travel process, from ticket purchase and collection to security checks and boarding. Facilities like wheelchairs, reading glasses, and first-aid kits are available to ensure a worry-free journey.

The G380 train from Taiyuan to Beijing West Railway Station offered returning passengers a delightful cultural performance, featuring violin music, songs, dances, and sand painting shows to help them unwind after their journey.
The G380 train also introduced a quiet carriage, with signs reminding passengers to mute electronic devices and take phone calls in the connecting areas. Train staff members spoke softly and provided attentive service throughout, creating a peaceful travel environment.
Train conductor Wang Fang explained that the quiet carriage was designed by the railway department to cater to diverse passenger needs, providing a "mobile quiet space". When purchasing tickets on the 12306 website, passengers can select the "quiet carriage" option and sign the "quiet agreement", ensuring they are seated in this designated carriage.
"Traveling has become so convenient now. Not only are the trains fast, but the service is excellent. The quiet carriage and charging facilities are thoughtful touches," said one passenger, expressing appreciation for the new changes in this year's Spring Festival travel rush.
