Farmers involved in a wheat planting demonstration area in Pinglu county, Shanxi province, recently started harvesting the summer wheat on 80 hectares of farmland.

Thanks to the abundant rainfall in the spring and the promotion of modern agricultural methods, waves of wheat ripple beautifully across the landscape.

The methods also help reduce planting costs and increase yields. Output of more than 5,000 kilograms per hectare is expected this year, a 20 percent increase year-on-year.
