National rural revitalization forum held in Shanxi

The 2020 China Rural Revitalization (Taigu) Forum took place in Taigu district of Jinzhong city in North China's Shanxi province on Oct 11-12.

The forum was sponsored by Research Center for the Rural Economy at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Shanxi Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Jinzhong municipal committee of the Communist Party of China and Jinzhong municipal government.

It included seminars focusing on discussions and knowledge sharing related to topics including organic dryland farming and deep processing of agricultural products, international comparisons of organic agriculture, the modernization of rural governance and the development of a modern agricultural industrial system. 

Among those participating in the forum were national and provincial government officials, experts and academics in the fields of agriculture, rural and farmers’ affairs and representatives of agricultural colleges.

Representatives from other provincial government departments related to agriculture and rural affairs, pilot organizations for rural reforms, as well as businesspeople from agricultural companies also attended the forum.

Shanxi's governor Lin Wu gave a detailed account of the unique endowments and developmental advantages that the province had to accelerate the modernization of its agriculture and rural areas. He touched on the province's farming history, the potential of its featured agriculture, its pioneer areas of rural reform and its local folk customs.

Lin urged experts and academics to contribute to the modernization of Shanxi's agriculture and rural areas and jointly build the forum as an important platform with extensive influence and appeal.
