Nine companies in North China's Shanxi province were listed on the Fortune China Top 500 list for 2020 released by the business magazine Fortune China on July 27, according to local officials.

The Shanxi groups include Daqin Railway Co which came in at No 127 and was the first of the Shanxi companies in the list, as well as Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co which ranked 147th. 

The list was compiled by the Chinese edition of the international Fortune magazine, in cooperation with the wealth management department of China International Capital Corporation. 

Officials said the selection covers all Chinese companies listed on share markets both at home and abroad. 

According to the list, the total operating revenue of the 500 Chinese companies reached 50.5 trillion yuan ($7.23 trillion), an increase of 11 percent over last year, and the net profit amounted to 4.2 trillion yuan, an increase of over 16 percent over last year.
