North China's Shanxi province recently reached an agreement with the major city of Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong province, to supply the metropolis with its high-quality agricultural products, local officials said.

They said that this would help expand the overall commercial business dealings between Shanxi and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Shanxi has begun to select and evaluate high-quality agricultural specialty products according to the requirements of Shenzhen's food supply standards and to obtain the right to use evaluation marks for food to Shenzhen.

The province will develop a group of promising companies engaged in producing agricultural produce without traces of pollutants, as well as those in the green food and organic agricultural products sectors.

It will further promote its farm produce in Shenzhen by focusing on production standards, market demand, product marketing and integrated development fields.

The Shanxi Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said that the agreement could help Shanxi's agricultural products expand into the key market in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

It could also attract more enterprises in East China to build food-for-Shenhzen production facilities in Shanxi, bringing vitality to the development of Shanxi's agricultural products, according to the department.
