The centers for disease control and prevention in cities in North China's Shanxi province recently published emergency notices on novel coronavirus prevention and control measures, due to the rise in COVID-19 infected cases in Beijing.

Residents in Shanxi province are reminded to always pay attention to reports about confirmed cases released by Beijing.

Those who reside in cities in Shanxi and whose itineraries have coincided with those of confirmed cases in Beijing -- especially those who have been to the Beijing Xinfadi Wholesale Market or contacted market's personnel since May 30 -- should take special care.

Officials said they should take the initiative to contact the local village (neighborhood) committees and employers for nucleic acid tests and further quarantine and medical observation if necessary. In addition, village neighborhood committees and the employers should compile records and carry out follow-up observations.

Residents in Shanxi are advised not to go to Beijing in the near future. If they must go, Shanxi residents must be careful with their personal protection.

The centers for disease control and prevention also suggested that residents always maintain personal protection awareness, lead a healthy lifestyle, maintain a safe social distance and go to see a nearby doctor for diagnosis and treatment if necessary, during the pandemic prevention and control period.
