North China's Shanxi province is doing all that it can to make sure it has the highest level possible for screening international arrivals -- both tourists and returnees -- to prevent a relapse of the novel coronavirus breakout, according to local officials. 

They said that the Shanxi Health Commission has carried out coordination, information integration, support quarantines, epidemiological investigations, emergency transfers and medical diagnosis and treatment to complete the screening of international flights arriving in Beijing via Taiyuan city, capital of Shanxi province.

Officials said the commission has cooperated with Taiyuan customs, Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, government departments involved in border inspections, as well as with foreign affairs, public security, industry and information technology and medical insurance. 

The cooperation covers collecting, counting, checking and reporting the comprehensive work of various government departments -- so as to help the Shanxi provincial government make decisions concerning the prevention and control of coronavirus pneumonia. 

Meanwhile, the commission has selected 105 provincial and municipal disease control professionals to support Taiyuan customs in conducting epidemiological investigations and nucleic acid testing.

The Shanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Taiyuan Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the laboratory at the Jinzhong Center for Disease Control and Prevention have all been organized to help Taiyuan customs complete nucleic acid testing of people entering the province.

A provincial-level expert emergency medical team, made up of five doctors and two nurses from Shanxi Bethune Hospital, has been established by the commission to be on duty at Taiyuan airport and guarantee the medical needs of passengers.

In addition, 11 cities in Shanxi province have set up liaison stations at Taiyuan Wusu International Airport to transfer international visitors in Shanxi.
