A promotion of Shanxi province's Spring Festival celebrations for 2020 was held in Beijing on Jan 7, according to local officials.

Attending the event were around 200 people from Beijing Culture and Tourism Bureau, the Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism -- as well as representatives from travel agencies, tourism industry associations, tourism e-commerce platforms and the self-driving tour club in Beijing.

Shanxi's Spring Festival celebrations will mainly promote cultural activities related to the spring festival traditions in areas of the Yellow River, the Great Wall and Taihang Mountains -- and display the festival cultural heritage across Shanxi.

During the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, Shanxi will carry out more than 1,400 activities in 10 categories with strong local characteristics, allowing tourists to enjoy the scenery and touch the folk culture of the province.

Apart from its diverse festival celebrations, Shanxi has made ready for visitors 175 rural homestays, inns, hotels and manors along the Yellow River, the Great Wall and Taihang Mountains.

As more tourist roads and high-speed railways were recently put into service, Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism has also planned six tour routes -- along northern, central, southern, southeastern and western Shanxi during the Spring Festival celebrations -- to facilitate tourists' travels.

Officials said the six routes involve themes such as pray for Chinese New Year, ancestor worship, rural tourism and folk culture.
