An economic and trade cooperation promotions conference between Shanxi and Australia was held in the city of Melbourne in Australia on Dec 6.

Representatives of Shanxi provincial government departments, Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone, Lyuliang city -- as well as several companies based in Shanxi province -- gave presentations on and promoted industries in Shanxi and their projects at the conference.

The Chinese Commissioner of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, the CEO of the Victorian Government's major transportation project, the director of Alinta Energy, gave talks on key projects and industries that offer great potential for cooperation with Shanxi. 

The promotion saw three partnership agreements signed between Shanxi and Australian companies. 

The promotion conference is one of the important events of the 2019 Shanxi Brands Silk Road Tour (Australia), taking place between Dec 3 and 10, to establish a platform for economic and trade cooperation and cultural communications between Shanxi and Australia.

Officials said it is the fourth stop of the Shanxi Brands Silk Road tour in 2019.

The Shanxi delegation comprising 118 people from 70 Shanxi government departments, companies and institutes took part in the Australian promotions.

During the eight-day promotion series of events, Shanxi carried out communications and cooperation with Australia and New Zealand in agriculture and animal husbandry, food and food processing, equipment manufacturing, energy, water conservancy, tourism and the information technology sectors.
