Shanxi province welcomed 47 newly registered foreign-invested businesses between January and October, representing a year-on-year increase of 42.42 percent, according to local officials.

Internationally funded companies in industries like coalbed methane mining and services grew rapidly with foreign investments in the mining sector and the public facilities management sector increasing 17 times and 3.31 times year on year, respectively.

Since the start of the year, Shanxi province has hosted and participated in four key trade communications and cooperation events – including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Shanxi Global Promotion Activity, the China (Shanxi)-South Korea Economic and Trade Exchange and Cooperation Symposium and the 2019 China-Germany (Shanxi) Economic Transformation Forum.

During those events some 61 economic and trade investment projects were signed, officials said.

"Through these events, we have established a new image of an open Shanxi and expanded Shanxi's overseas influence, laying a solid foundation for the current stabilization of foreign investment projects and the use of foreign investment to achieve high-quality development," said Zhou Xiaoyu, director of the foreign investment management division of Shanxi Provincial Department of Commerce.

In 2019, Shanxi launched tracking services for newly established foreign-funded enterprises and 52 newly contracted and key foreign-funded projects to facilitate their normal operations.

Surveys and seminars on business production and operations were staged to help solve enterprises' problems.

A guidebook on foreign investment in 2019 was also compiled and distributed, to provide foreign investors with professional guide service.
