The 2019 Datong Northern Wei Dynasty Culture Summit was held in the Yungang Grottoes Art Museum in Datong city, in Shanxi province, on Aug 18-19. 

Hosted by the Datong Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Datong University, the summit attracted more than 120 experts and academics engaged in studying the culture of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534). 

Delegates carried out discussions on various subjects including the historical ruins of the capital city of the dynasty, the Northern Wei Dynasty and the Silk Road, the legal system during the period, and the clothing of the Northern Wei Dynasty. The talks followed a field trip made to the Yungang Grottoes and a visit to the museums in Datong city, while participants also watched dances from the period. 

Lectures were delivered during the summit, which collected more than 70 theses showcasing recent academic study on the dynasty's culture.
