Meteorite exhibition hits Taiyuan

A meteorite exhibition proved a bit hit when it opened in Taiyuan, in Shanxi province on Aug 6, with 60 meteorites from all over the world going on display, according to the organizers.

Hosted by the Shanxi Department of Natural Resources and the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the exhibition at Shanxi Museum of Geology in the city consists of five sections. These include one on the origin of meteorites and another on scientific research into meteorites. 

All the exhibits are from meteorite research institutes from home and abroad, science organizations and from collectors, with some being shown to the public for the first time. 

The exhibition will run until Sept 20.
