The 2nd Sculpture Projects Ping Yao, an international sculpture festival taking place in Pingyao county in Shanxi province, will be held on July 5-28, according to a press conference that was held in Beijing on May 15. 

Dozens of artists from home and abroad will take part in the festival being organized by the Austrian Mobius Art Foundation and the Sanpin Art Museum -- to create sculptures in the Ancient City of Pingyao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

Adding a fresh dimension to the annual event, this year's festival features an international youth sculpture promotion plan designed to encourage creations from young sculptors. These young artists will showcase their work in the local Shuanglin Temple, known for beautiful and unique painted sculptures. 

In addition, a sculpture fair targeting visitors is on the program.
