A group of 44 teachers from Shanxi province will head for Chinese language schools in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines after a short-term training course that started on April 18.
Since 2011, Shanxi has sent 135 teachers to work at Chinese schools in various foreign countries.
"They shoulder the important responsibility of promoting Chinese language education in foreign countries and spreading Chinese culture around the world," said Tian Yijun, deputy director of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office in Shanxi province.
Wang Jie, a 39-year-old teacher from Linfen, Shanxi province, has worked in different Chinese schools in the Philippines for four years.
"It is an honor and a responsibility to do this job," he said. "When students show great interest in Chinese, I feel very proud."
According to Tang Cuiying, a senior official from the national overseas Chinese affairs office, 1,100 teachers are going to work at more than 260 Chinese schools in 30 countries this year.
