An undergraduate student from Taiyuan has been rescued after falling down a cliff in Maoshang village on April 16.
The seven-hour rescue effort was carried out by a team of 17 local firefighters and 34 rescue workers from the Shanxi Tianlong rescue team.
The male student had been on a school spring trip with 40 classmates to Maoshang village when the accident occurred, sustaining injuries to his hip and waist in the fall.
At 4:30 pm, two hours after the accident, the student was discovered by his classmates who alerted the authorities.
Dwindling light and mountainous conditions hampered rescue efforts, with the rescue team finally reaching the student at 12:54 am, before being transported to a nearby hospital at 4:20 am on April 17.
