Li Cuitian, a grassroots official in Zigan village of Shanxi province, has put forward his suggestions for improving the lives of rural Shanxi residents, during the fifth session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC).
After working as a civil servant for 15 years, Li has a profound understanding of local villagers' lives. He has put forward suggestions covering issues related to agriculture and villages, such as the strengthening of the comprehensive management of rural pollution and improving pensions, over the past few years.
"That my advice about advancing financial services reforms in villages was included in the key suggestions is unbelievable," Li said, recalling his experience of the 2014 NPC.
He has proposed advice regarding agriculture this year, namely encouraging rural land leasing and supporting innovations in agriculture to further connect individual production and the market.
